Brian Hatton

Certifications and Achievements: CrossFit Level 1 Certified, USAW Olympic Lifting Certified

Brian grew up in the martial arts, having trained in Tae Kwon Do as a child and into his teens. As a young adult he found Muay Thai kickboxing and fell in love. He found a new focus for his competitiveness and trained for many years and eventually went pro in addition to teaching. He started CrossFit as a way to prepare for his fights, and soon found himself more interested in Olympic lifting than fighting. He has been active in the CrossFit community for almost 6years now and is still eager to achieve more as both an athlete and a trainer. Brian also teaches our Olympic weightlifting class.

Brian lives here, in Plymouth, with his wife and fellow CrossFitter, Martina. You can see their wedding photos in the gym (yes they were married at Plymouth Crossfit Lower Town).

Sarah Stobbe

I am a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a 6 time national gold medalist in women’s light weight contact sparring. I taught martial arts for 9 years before discovering CrossFit, which has been my life for almost 5 years. I love the community, training for competitions, and the fact that every day is a new challenge to better oneself physically and mentally.

Ed (JR) Engalan

Certifications and Achievements: CrossFit Level 1 Certified, Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Member of 2014 CFLT Regional Team

Ed’s first exposure to CrossFit, like many, was from watching the Crossfit Games on ESPN and instantly google searching for the closest CrossFit box within driving distance. What started out as a place to move around heavy weight and laugh with great people, has turned into an endless discovery of
his overall fitness potential and an outlet for his competitive side.

With all the support from our amazing community, the workout programming, learning that true fitness involves eating clean as well, Ed has lost in upwards of 40+ lbs since his discovery and passion for CrossFit. He is now taking all of the endless knowledge transfers from other coaches and members in the community and paying it forward through coaching classes as well as competition classes to help our members get the most out of their own fitness and achieve their own personal goals.

Jerod Jones

Certifications and Achievements: CrossFit Level 1 Certified, CrossFit Olympic Weightlifting Certification

“I have always been active one way or another in my life. I started playing soccer when I was seven and continued to play competitively until I was 20. In my early 20’s I got into weightlifting to stay in shape. I stumbled on CrossFit about two years ago and started classes in early 2014.

I coach because I enjoy motivating and doing what I can to put smiles on people’s faces. Besides pushing people mentally and physically in classes, I do my best to create an environment that everyone appreciates.”

Shadi Jammoul

Certifications and Achievements: CrossFit Level 1 Certified, Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University

I started CrossFit halfway through college as a way to get back in shape and impress others. Never did I think that it would become such an important part of my life. It gave me confidence in myself, allowed me to see my own potential, and see other’s potential as well.

I coach because I love to see people break their own expectations. The human body is a very talented machine and watching people push their limits is remarkable. I find it very rewarding to be able to provide such small tips and seeing them go a long way for people.

Tonya Barker

Coach

Tonya’s path to coaching CrossFit has been a natural progression. She started CrossFitting in February of 2011 and became hooked! She liked that she was able to satisfy endurance training with weightlifting and body-weight calisthenics in just one hour. Up until this point, she had a hard time finding time for all of it. As her love of CrossFit (and her time spent at the gym) grew, she knew she wanted to start training others in the discipline so she got her Level 1 CrossFit Certification. According to her, “Working with people, and showing them what they are capable of, is an addiction for me. I love seeing their reaction when they do something they thought they couldn’t do. It’s beyond rewarding.”
