When/Why did you start CrossFit?
Technically I ‘started’ CrossFit back when CFLT was on Amelia. However, I only tried a few classes here and there. It was a lil intimidating and I wasn’t yet hooked. Once CFLT moved into Saxton’s I decided to give it another go! Now that school is over, I’m able to wod more on a constant basis.
How has CrossFit changed you?
I remember talking about p90x thinking I was ‘cool’ for giving that a go, when my Aunt Kelly talked about joining some weird exercise competition. Haha Well my mom joined and then got my dad to try it out a lil while later. They got sucked into the “cult.”
I was too stubborn at first. Exercising, sweating, and being red faced was not my thing. I was kind of at a ‘low point’ before I joined and, believe it or not, I was also pretty shy and self-conscious around new people. Welp, one day it just clicked and things had to change, no more moping around feeling depressed. I signed up for a graphic design program and started CrossFit with you crazies!
Getting into better shape has definitely made me more confident. I am no longer shy and I love meeting new friends at the box! I feel more driven and am ready to start setting higher goals, both in and out of the box. Being able to carry extra groceries is cool too 😉
What are your strengths/weaknesses in the gym?
Strengths: Double Unders and Overhead Squats.
Weaknesses: Push Ups!!! I don’t think I have those muscles… Also, endurance and speed. I’ll get it done, but good thing I don’t mind being last. Oh! & Snatches. Ugh.
What is your favorite WOD?
Easy! Barbell Complex!
I ‘tested’ out college at Eastern, but then decided to go to Specs Howard for Graphic Design. That finished up last July and, just last week, I started a new job at Ford! (Thanks to ‘networking’ and some good friends at CFLT <3)
Does Wine & Cheese count as a hobby? I love checking out new music and dancing too!
Eh, my family is alright… 😉 As you all know, they’re actually, pretty amazing. My dad is the fun competition during the wods, and my mom is the coach and ‘cheerleader’. They are very supportive of my brother and me with sports, school, work, and life in general. We all like to hang out and have fun (& talk about CrossFit, of course). Family game nights are always..interesting.. with the sarcasm and playful fighting. Love Em.
