Stephanie Pavlo

Certifications:  Stephanie is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University with a degree in education. She is a competitive CrossFit athlete and CrossFit Level 1 Certified Coach. She also has her CPR, First Aid, & AED certification.

Coach Stephanie has been mentoring, coaching our on ramp sessions and also coaching some Met-Con classes for the past few months. Now get ready for her never ending energy coaching CF classes!! We are so happy with Stephanie’s growth as not only an athlete but a coach in the CFLT community. A little more about coach Stephanie:

Stephanie struggled with body image issues in her youth and was routinely turned away from sports for not fitting the desired body type. She discovered CrossFit in 2011 and was immediately addicted – training hard and establishing healthy eating habits. Her personal transformation drives her goal to help others make healthy changes in their lives. Her favorite WODs include anything with gymnastics, so Cindy tops the list, followed closely by Mary. A self-described recovering sugar addict, her vices include chocolate, ice cream, and peanut M&M’s.

Kyle St Jean
Certifications: CrossFit Level 1
Growing up, it was video games over sports, and processed food over meats and vegetables. Exercise was out of the question. At the young age of 19, and at his heaviest of 330lbs he experienced a frightening pain in his heart. Scared and breathless he decided it was time to change or die young.

In May of 2009, Kyle started his journey to a better life at a small local globo gym. Jumping out to an outstanding 50lb loss Kyle was ecstatic. Seeing his results and the sense of accomplishment he felt in himself, he decided he wanted to share the same pride and accomplishment with others. Keeping on the path of bettering himself and his life Kyle developed a passion for fitness and health. Slowly he started researching the different methodologies of the fitness world. Now down 80lbs, Kyle was fortunate enough to get a job as a Personal Trainer at LA Fitness in Livonia in 2011. Through his constant pursuit to refine his craft, and through constant trial and error in his own training, Kyle had caught the attention of a fellow employee who had done CrossFit. When I approached to try CrossFit Kyle reluctantly agreed to give it a shot. He entered his first workout at CrossFit Lower Town intimidated and unsure, but left as a junkie! Four months after starting CrossFit Kyle became certified as a Level 1 CrossFit Coach. Processed foods were gone and meats and vegetables had become a staple in his diet. He then found himself developing an extreme love for Bacon!!!!!!! Kyle was part of the family and his positive attitude and encouragement was infectious!

Kyle thoroughly enjoys seeing people achieve goals they once though impossible, people passing personal boundaries and doing so with hard work and clean eating!!!! Kyle has a different perspective than you’ll find of most trainers. Coming from near rock bottom, Kyle wants nothing more than to help others in the same situation and also prevent the situation for anyone he can.

“No matter who you are or what you do, becoming a better person can never do you wrong. Doing it with people who care about you and want you to succeed on a regular basis is just an even better choice. That’s why I love CrossFit, and my friends at CrossFit Lower Town.” – Kyle St.Jean

Christopher Drabicki

Certifications:  CF-L1, CPR, Successful completion of EMT-B course;awaiting certification. Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice/Security Management from Michigan State.

Out of high school Chris spent six years in the Army, four with 1st Ranger Battalion in Savannah, GA. Chris conducted four combat deployments in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom with two years doing personal protection in Afghanistan in support of the Department of State.
Chris got into CF because he truly believes in it’s foundation. “Striving to be better in all areas of fitness should be a goal of everyones. Stepping outside of my comfort zone is extremely difficult to do but is also very rewarding. In my opinion, Crossfit is more than just working out and improving fitness, it builds mental toughness that improves all other areas of my life as well.  Mental toughness is something that cannot be taught, it requires an individual to go through extreme hardships and sacrifices, but with sacrifices comes great reward. That reward is fitness and being able to share ideas, philosophy’s and coach other individuals in Crossfit only makes it that much better.”
Favorite CF Quotes
“Be patient. Your fitness level is something that is going to generally take a long time to get to where you think you want it. And when you are there, you will want it higher.
Don’t define yourself by your numbers and your times. Define yourself by who you are and what you are about. CrossFit is something that you do, it is not who you are. That can help keep things in good perspective.
Finally, find your weaknesses, make friends with them, then beat them to death.”

Brian Hatton

Certifications: USAW Olympic Lifting, CF-L1

Brian teaches our Olympic weightlifting class.

Brian grew up in the martial arts, having trained in Tae Kwon Do as a child and into his teens.  As a young adult he found Muay Thai kickboxing and fell in love.  He found a new focus for his competitiveness and trained for many years and eventually went pro in addition to teaching. He started CrossFit as a way to prepare for his fights, and soon found himself more interested in Olympic lifting than fighting.  He has been active in the CrossFit community for almost 4 years now and is still eager to achieve more as both an athlete and a trainer.

Brian lives here, in Plymouth, with his wife and fellow CrossFitter, Martina.  You can see their wedding photos in the gym (yes they were married at CrossFit Lower Town).

Sarah Stobbe

Certifications:CF-L1, 3rd degree Black belt in Tae Kwon Do

I am a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a 6 time national gold medalist in women’s light weight contact sparring. I taught martial arts for 9 years before discovering CrossFit, which has been my life for almost 5 years. I love the community, training for competitions, and the fact that every day is a new challenge to better oneself physically and mentally. My fiancé is my favorite training partner and I love watching his passions flourish since he opened his own box.

Mark Hughes

Certifications: Certified Level 1 Crossfit Trainer, Certified USAW Level 1 Coach

While growing up, fitness and sports was a large part of Mark’s life. Every single day, you could find him in his back yard playing basketball.  During this stage of my life I wasn’t into lifting weights because I thought it would throw my shot off like most B-Ball players. I firmly believed that if I were in better shape than my competition, I would always have the advantage

One night while watching a infomercial I saw the body for life transformations and decided that I was no longer going to be the skinny guy, needless to say 90 days later I had packed on 20 pounds of muscle and that is what changed my life. Since then I’ve become a sponge to anything that has to do with fitness. I have educated myself by getting certified as a personal trainer and massage therapist, to better understand the body and it functions.

A friend of mine introduced me about crossfit and ever since that first class it has become my new drug. My passion is to help educate train and transform everyone that I can to be the most mentally tough and physically fit individual that they can be.
