When/Why did you start CrossFit?
I started CrossFit October 2014. I was a competitive bodybuilder in my 20’s and wanted to make a comeback in the masters division when I turned 40, but a series of injuries and setbacks keep me from making any progress. I kept seeing CrossFit in different exercise magazines and watched the games that summer, so I trained for 3 months to walk in the door on top of my game. What really happened was Fran and a whole lot of humility!
How has CrossFit changed you?
CrossFit has allowed me to push myself daily and set/ achieve a series of goals that are constantly evolving. It has also allowed me to be part of a big, supportive community that is the exact opposite of an individual sport like bodybuilding.
What are your strengths/weaknesses in the gym?
Strengths: My strengths are body weight movements and deadlifts. Being light in the ass and having long arms is an advantage for these movements.
Weaknesses: My weaknesses are snatches, OHS and thrusters- Fran still haunts me!
What is your favorite WOD?
Favorite WODs are Nate and Cindy. My motor is pretty good so longer WODs with body weight movements are ones I look forward to.
I’ve worked in the insurance industry for 11 years as a Sales Manager for Bankers Life in Troy assisting my clients with retirement and estate planning. My wife Paige and I have lived in Plymouth for 13 years and married for 12. Our son Campbell is 5 and keeps me very busy when I’m not at work or in the box. Basketball, baseball, soccer golf, bike rides, you name it- he keeps me going.
