The‘John ARASIm Sr.’ Award April2015
When/Why did you start CrossFit?
My first on-ramp at CFLT was on June 15th, 2012.
I joined CFLT because I used to drive by Amelia all of the time, see the CFLT-ers out there working hard and say to myself “Self, I am a lazy fat-ass”.
How has CrossFit changed you?
CrossFit has changed me in so many ways. It certainly has made me more disciplined, dedicated and conscious about my fitness and health. I was never an athlete so it is not a stretch to say that at the age of 47 I am in way better shape than I was at age 21. When I started, The Machine made me feel like I could do it, even though I was ALWAYS at the bottom of the board. All of the coaches have been so supportive and awesome.
What are your strengths/weaknesses in the gym?
Strengths: Olympic categories. My gas tank, which still sucks, has gotten much better.
Weakness: Stretching. The Tin Man ain’t got nuttin’ on me! Also, things like burpees and box jumps take me more time than I’d like but I’ve learned to grind them out. Kipping. I can’t kip.
What is your favorite WOD?
My favorite WOD is the barbell complex. I have been able to see tangible improvement. If you don’t track your workouts, I suggest it.
I am a Catholic Central grad. Class of ’86. Michigan State University, Class of ’90. Go Green! I have a lovely wife Kelly and two awesome kids, Olivia and Ryan. I love to cook. Thank you all for your support and good luck to you.
Chris trains at ‘nasty’ noon and sometimes 4p and has been hitting PR after PR!! That along with his positive attitude, new found love for eating clean and willingness to learn makes this an easy choice. Chris has several nicknames he put on the daily scoreboard including ‘150’ and ‘Old fat Chris’. We could not be more proud of you 150!! Keep up the good work in your journey for living a healthy lifestyle!! Can’t wait to see what youaccomplish in 2015!![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
