When/Why did you start CrossFit?
I started CF in August 2013, but only took Kettlebell and Metcon classes. I finally overcame my fear of the barbell and began taking CF classes in February 2014 and have been addicted ever since. After having my second child, I was in a slump and sick of P90x & Insanity. JR was into CrossFit for about a year at that point and he finally talked me into trying out a Metcon class one day. The coaches and athletes were truly inspiring and I loved the positive CFLT environment. I signed up for my onramp that day and the rest is history.
How has CrossFit changed you?
Since my early 20s, I have had my ups and downs with weight battles in my attempt to achieve what I once thought was a perfect body for a woman. At one point, I got down to a size double zero through extreme dieting and exercise. My energy levels were very low and I was extremely moody (imagine that!). Since I’ve started CrossFit, my outlook on the perfect body has changed. I personally believe I am the fittest I have ever been. I am stronger, my body is more toned and most importantly, I am happy. The friendships I have made at CFLT are invaluable. Making amazing friends was something I never anticipated would come out of joining the gym.
What are your strengths/weaknesses in the gym?
Strengths: Metcon type/endurance WODs
Weakness: Handstand push-ups, double unders and snatches.
What is your favorite WOD?
I know everyone will hate me for saying this, but I actually really like MURPH and the longer endurance type WODs.
Lindsay earned a Bachelor’s degree in Workforce Management at U of M in 2004 and got married to JR in 2006. They moved 7 times since being married, but finally feel at “home” in Plymouth. She works as an Office Manager at Keller Williams Realty in the Novi Foreclosure Division. She has 3 kids – Emma (5), Brady (2) and JR (old)!!!. She has a true passion for swimming and has been a competitive swimmer beginning in her early teens, all through high school and college. 3 months ago she could not do an unassisted pull up. Due to her hard work, in the last 2 weeks she has done 50, 60 and 70 unassisted pull ups in 3 different WOD’s!! We could not be more proud of you Lindsay!!, keep up the good work in your journey for living a healthy lifestyle!!
