When/Why did you start CrossFit?
I started my on-ramp in March of last year. I had recently lost quite a bit of weight in a short period of time (not so healthy diet plan). Losing weight alone was not the answer for me. I felt like a smaller version of my fatter self. I wanted to feel and look better, and knew I needed to make a change. Brian let me try a workout, and I was hooked.
How has CrossFit changed you?
Crossfit has changed my outlook on what healthy looks like. Healthy to me is strong… Not necessarily skinny. This is the message I hope to give to my daughter. There are so many strong, capable, role models at Lower Town. I am humbled to work out alongside all of you.
CrossFit has given me so much more energy, strength and confidence that show up in unexpected places. Daily tasks are easier. Bringing in groceries, carrying laundry baskets, etc… It’s all easier. I had the guy at pet supplies plus offer to carry my x-large bag of dog food out to my car the other day. I politely declined, slung the bag over my shoulder, and walked out. LOL! That felt great!
What are your strengths/weaknesses in the gym?
It’s hard to say what my strengths are… I’m getting better at push-ups and burpees. Weaknesses are wall balls and overhead squats! And I can’t do a pull up… YET… Maybe this year!!
What is your favorite WOD?
My favorite workout would probably be any of the partner WODs and most of the barbell movements.
I have spent most of my adult life searching for an answer to health and fitness. I have tried everything. To say I’m grateful to have found this box, coaches and people is an understatement. You all continue to motivate and inspire me daily.
My husband, Blake, and I live in Canton and have two great kids (8 & 11). I have a photography business specializing in high school senior photography and business headshots. I am lucky to have a job I love.
