The 2018 CrossFit Open is here! WEEEEE! Is it a chance to compete and see how you stack up with the rest of the world? Yes. Of course it is cool to be able to throw down with people of the same age, gender, ability, etc…But the open is so much more than just a 5 week online competition!
More importantly, the open provides us with a fun, exciting way to celebrate our community, fitness, and friendships. It offers a chance to build relationships, challenge ourselves, and of course suffer with friends.
I know it can be scary and intimidating. My first open, all I could think about was how weird and crazy all these people were about fitness and my heart was racing a million miles an hour. Nothing has changed! I still think you are all weird and crazy all of you are (in a good way) and my heart still races a million miles an hour. Step outside your comfort zone, trust me you will enjoy the process and learn a lot along the way.
Every year we do the workouts on Friday, Friday night lights! The workout will be programmed for all classes on Friday. Particularly, Friday night lights is the place to be! We will have scheduled heats on Friday nights starting at 5:30pm and running all night. Come in, sign up for a heat, suffer, cheer on your family, and have a beer (or a paleo bottle of water). The atmosphere is ELECTRIC, the pain is real, and memories last a lifetime.
Whether you are in it to compete or you are looking for a Friday night workout with friends, you do not want to miss this. Personally, this is the most excited I have been to spend time with and build camaraderie with all of you. Let’s get it! Maybe Brian will workout once a week!
